A Josh Hutcherson Oneshot

A small town diner in the middle of no where.
That’s where I worked. Why? Why would anyone want to work in a place like that? That’s what you and I are both asking.
But I have a good answer, because my parents run the place.
Don and Deedee’s Diner. Yep. That’s my parents. We get the most business out of this hick little town and we do pretty well. It was pretty late at night and the only people in here besides the cook in back and myself, the lone waitress, was the crazy man that lived with pet rats that the town had deemed to nick name him “Sloppy Joe.” Cute, I know. Very creative, but to be fair Sloppy Joe was named Joe and he was very sloppy.
Every once and a while outside a car would pass but other than that the only light was from a street lamp across the street. It was quite eerie actually, but I was used to it, since I had been helping at the diner since I could remember.
I gave Sloppy Joe another cup of coffee, on the house. I remember seeing a patch on his jacket, it was an old war patch. The poor guy had seen Hell in war and now was deemed the crazy man of our small little town. He scared me, sure, but he didn’t need to be treated like crap. I’d give him apple pie and stuff like that sometimes too. But the only thing he’d ever said was “Thank you, darlin.” Nothing more.
A big van slowed on the street and turned into our parking lot. I didn’t recognize the van from the town so it had to be out-of-towners. Knowing my luck, they’d only ask for directions and leave, but still I placed a welcoming smile on my face and fixed my pink apron.
I pretended to be busy with something behind the counter so I didn’t look like a creeper, but there was a group of people who piled through the diner door. The bell rang above the door and I glanced up.
Holy mother of fuc-
I tried not to show my sense of shock as I placed a smile on my face.
Across from me in the group of people was non other that Josh Hutcherson. I recognized his mom and dad, his brother Connor and his friend Avan Jogia. But there were two others I didn’t know.
Man, now I feel like a creeper for knowing that.
“Hello, welcome To Don and Deedee’s Diner my name is Dahlia, what can I help you with?”
“Uh, yes. We were wondering if you could give us directions back to the high way.” The man, I had recognized as Josh’s father said. I knew it. I was elated, still.
“Well, if that’s all, all you nee-” I began.
“And maybe if we could get some food.” Josh interjected. He had a sweet smile on his face. Josh’s parents looked at him questioningly. “Right, boys?” He asked Connor, Avan and the other two boys whooped in agreement.
“We could eat.” Connor said, he walked up to the diner counter and sat on the bar stool. He swiveled it around and spun in it.
“You could always eat. “Avan said bobbing him on the head.
“Ow!”
Josh’s mom sighed and shook her head and sat on one of the stools. They all sat in a row and I felt so overwhelmed. Not only am I meeting Josh Hutcherson, his family and friends I am serving them. Mother of God this is the best day at work ever.
“Okay,” I looked down the row at the seven people people. “What can I get you?”
Josh busted out laughing. And we all looked at him.
“I’m sorry, you just… you just looked so scared!” He laughed.
After thy ordered I told Craig, our cook what they wanted. Josh tried to catch us in a conversation. He went down the line and introduced everyone. Apparently they were on a road trip from LA to Kentucky, just a few states away.
Avan started telling me some blackmail on Josh. It was so funny, he was blushing and leaned his head down on the counter saying, “Oh my God, Avan I hate you.”
We all laughed as I started giving everyone their food.
“Oh! And then this one time we had gone out to Chicago for the weeken-“
“NO! No, Avan! No! Trust me, you do not want to hear about that one!” He rushed to cover Avans’ mouth and I didn’t think he could get any redder.
“Little lady?” I turned and Craig had the last plate ready for my.
“Thank you, Craig.”
“You’re welcome sweetheart.”
I placed the last plate, a bacon double burger and fries in front of Josh. He flashed me a dashing smile.
“Thank you, sweetheart.” Avan’s arm slipped and hit Josh’s. Avan smirked at Josh.
I noticed Sloppy Joe was running low on coffee, he wouldn’t leave for another hour so I excused myself and walked over and refilled it with decaf so he could sleep later. But as I walked away I thought I heard Josh tell Avan.
“I call dibs.” I shook my head, thinking it didn’t make sense so I obviously heard wrong.
“Here you are, Joe. Another cup, on the house.” He nodded staring off into space and grabbed the cup.
“Thank you, darlin.”
“You’re welcome Joe.” I smiled sweetly at him, knowing he couldn’t see me and walked back behind the counter.
As Josh, is friends and family and I kept talking no one came into the diner, in just and hour and a half we were closing.
I looked concerned over at Joe. I bit my lip. For some reason the old man reminded me of a grandfather, although I had never met my own… maybe that was why. But I shook it off and joined the conversation at hand. Mrs. Hutcherson and I began talking about gardens. She had one in Kentucky and I helped my mom out in our own so we gave each other pointers. She was such a nice lady.
Josh stood up and walked over to Joe’s table. I glanced up at him. He sat down across for Joe and smiled. It seemed like he introduced himself.
“What’s he doing?” I asked no one in particular. No one but me really talked to Joe, it was shocking to see someone, especially a stranger… especially Josh Hutcherson talk to him.
Josh’s roommate, Andre, just smiled shaking his head.
“Being Josh.”
They talked for a little while, but then Joe got up to leave and Josh stuck out his hand. Joe reluctantly shook it. When their hands parted Joe looked down at his hand. In it was a few hundred dollar bills.
My jaw dropped.
“Take it, please. Think of it as an investment.” I barely heard Josh say. Joe nodded.
“Thank you, sir.” He saluted him and walked out of the diner. Josh came, sat back down and continued eating as if nothing happened. I wiped the stupid look off my face and walked over to him. I quirked an eye brow up.
“An investment?”
“Yeah, you know… he said he paints. I just figured.. he needed a jump start.”
“He never told me that.” He smiled.
“I’m a people person.”
I smiled, shaking my head at the generous move. That’s the nicest thing I think I’d ever seen.
We talked for a little while longer. Josh’s group started moving towards the door, as I was closing up the diner.
“Have a good night, Craig!” I called out. I barely heard his reply as he walked out the back door. I began turning off all the lights.
“So… I was thinking that we’d stay in town… you know… just a little while longer.”
I glanced up and Josh and Connor were still here. Connor had a knowing grin on his face and looked between Josh and I. Josh shoved his face to the side.
“Get out of here punk. Go help Dad.”
“With what? All the bags are in the car.” Connor said, tauntingly. Josh glared at him and Connor waggled his eyebrows. “You kids have fun, now.” He laughed as he tore out the door.
Josh blushed and ran a hand through his hair.
“I’m sorry about him… He’s….”
“A little brother?” I smirked. “I have one too, I know what they’re like.” Josh grinned.
“But.. um, yeah I was thinking since I’m staying in town for a couple of days… maybe you could give me a tour.” I laughed trying to cover up my shock. Josh Hutcherson wants me to give him a tour of the town. This day couldn’t get any better.
“Yeah, that’s be great. Not a whole lot to see, compared to Hollywood, but I’ll see what I can do.”
“Great! I’ll walk you to your car?” He asked.
“Yeah.” We walked over to my red, rusting 78’ VW Bug convertible.
“Nice car.” Josh said.
“Yeah. She’s old, but my dad and I are fixing her up.” I said as I turned to face him.
“Well, night. I see you tomorrow, here at about noon? That sound okay?”
“Yeah, sure. See you then.” Josh turned to leave. He quickly turned back around.
“There’s been something I’ve been thinking about doing all night.”
“What’s th-” Josh’s lips came down on mine. His hands came up to gently cup my cheeks. I leaned into his and my lips worked softly against his. It was sweet.
Behind Josh his dad honked the horn of the car and flashed the lights about ten times and the boys jumped out of the windows, cat calling at us. Josh’s mom in the passenger seat gently smacked Connor’s arm as he leaned out the window yelling, “GET SOME!”
Both Josh as I blushed as we pulled away.
“Sorry about them.” He scratched the back of his neck and looked down at his shoes. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see you then.”
I climbed into my car and watched as Josh and his family and friends pulled away. I let out a giddy scream and laughed. I remembered just minutes before I said this day couldn’t get any better.. That was before Josh kissed me.
I laughed.
“I stand corrected.” I muttered to my car with a huge grin on my face.
Small Comforts
A Josh Hutcherson Oneshot
I just… had to write this and get it out.
—-
There’s something wrong. I woke up at about six in the morning. Josh was asleep next to me. His mouth was hanging open, his eyes shut. He kept murmuring every once and a while and I knew he was dreaming. I smiled at him. But something still felt wrong.
Beside me the phone rang. I sighed and reached over to grab the phone before it woke Josh up, unsuccessfully. Josh jerked awake, his sleepy eyes looked over questionably at me. He yawned. I picked up the phone.
“Who is it, babe?”
“Hey, mom.” I answered my phone. He rolled his eyes with a small smile.
She was crying on the other end and my whole body froze.
No.
No, please dear God, no.
“The nurse just called me. She was moving dad into the cancer ward, preparing to move him to the hospice. She left the room for only a minute and when she came back… he was gone.”
He was gone.
My brain shut down. My body shut down, but I started shaking. I just stared ahead of my at the Piccaso painting I have in my room.
Her voice continued as it was shattering. I didn’t feel a thing.
“She said… she said he wasn’t in any pain. He was on so much medicine to keep the pain away. He had… Oh, God…”I could hear her sobs and all I wanted to do was hold her.
Josh’s eyes peeked open.
“Babe… you okay?” He sat up. I didn’t move. “Cait! You’re shaking what’s wrong?”
I didn’t say a word.
“Dad wanted to call us at about 10 last night, but they gave him the wrong number and he couldn’t call. I just… he’s gone, baby. I’m so so sorry. I didn’t want to tell you over the phone, but I couldn’t tell you to fly all the way home and wait a day or two to tell you.. I just.. ” She broke off sobbing on the phone.
I could feel my eyelashes move as I blinked, It felt like everything slowed down. I couldn’t even find my heart. It seemed like it was gone.
I could hear my breaths and I took them in. My body was still shaking uncontrollably, I remember that I read once that these are the signs of shock.
Am I going into shock?
I couldn’t see anything other than the strokes of blue of the painting. I wondered how long it too Piccaso to paint.
My brain was moving and thinking everything, everything other than the situation at hand. But for some reason I couldn’t move my eyes away from the painting.
Oh, gosh, I think Josh is talking.
I think someone’s talking.
My brother.
“Cait we need you back home for the funeral arrangements. We need the whole family together. When can you make it down here?”
I couldn’t answer anything. I don’t know why. I’m pretty sure my mouth could work, but it just seemed to stay shut, no matter what I thought.
I focused on moving my mouth. I needed to answer him.
“I’ll be there as soon as I can” My voice sounded weird, even to my own ears.
I coughed, all the sudden there was a lump in my throat.
All the sudden a warm cotton blanket was wrapped around my shoulders. I could feel the fabric as two hands rubbed it over my arms, I guess trying to warm me.
“Bye, Cait. I’m sorry. I love you and I’ll see you soon.” I tried to answer back, but my mouth refused to work again.
I hung up the phone and threw it somewhere. It could have been across the room, on the table, bed, I don’t know, but my eyes still never left the painting. My dad had bought it for me. Three years ago.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” I could feel his strong arms around me, but I didn’t move. “Cait you’re scaring me. What is it?”
I’m scaring him. He must think I’m crazy. There was something about his voice. I just heard it and it felt like it was the arrow send into my heart. The dam had cracked. It started small but it was spreading. The pain. It ripped through my heart and body.
A choked sob echoed through the small room. It sounded so alien.
“Dad is… Oh my God,” A pain like I had never known rocked through my body and took over everything. A dark hole replaced where my heart once was and I felt nothing but the overwhelming sense of loss. “God, why?”
Hot tears rolled down my face. They wouldn’t stop. I took in a deep shaky breath but it didn’t seem like enough. My lungs had collapsed, it seemed. I couldn’t get enough air. My whole body was rocking with the shakes, tears fell and I couldn’t do anything.
“H- he-he’s gone.”
That’s it. He’s gone. I’m gone.
I think I screamed it. I’m not sure, it came out like a whisper, but it felt like a scream.
“Oh my God. Oh .. Baby,” Josh wrapped his arms around me and I felt myself being led into his chest. My head rested against his heart. It was beating. Strong and steady.
I thought about my dad. What were his last words? Did he think about me? Did he know how much I love him? Did he know I forgave him for everything?
The tears stained Josh’s shirt but I couldn’t stop crying. I have always hated crying. To me it seemed weak and I was never weak.
But now I was a weak little girl.
All I want is him back. I would give anything, absolutely anything in the world to go back just three weeks. Three weeks ago everything was fine, everything was perfect. Well, it wasn’t perfect but now it seemed that way.
Baby girl, Caitybug, My Little Bugger, Little Pud’. I heard his voice echo through my ears and it only made me sob louder.
I could hear Josh only slightly over my cries of anguish.
“Shhh, I’m here baby. I’m so sorry. I’m here.” His words did not comfort me but he was right. He’s here. Josh will be here for me.
Josh leaned back against the wooden bed frame. Holding me.
“He’.. He’s gone.” I repeated. Every once and a while I would scream out something, anything. Most of the time it was unintelligible, or pleads to God.
I don’t think I stopped, for hours, I didn’t stop crying. I have no idea how that was possible. But the sobs slowed down to small little cries. Whimpers.
The sounds were still loud enough to echo off the walls and return to me. To mock me.
I’m never going to hear his voice again. I’m never going to see his blue eyes open. We’re never going to sing old doo-wop songs or the Beatles. We’re never going to sing Blue Christmas together and annoy everyone in the house with our horrible exaggerated rendition.
He won’t walk me down the aisle on my wedding. He won’t be there to hug me. He never got to go to one of my performance. He never got to see me act.
A million thoughts ran through my head that never had before.
But slowly the comfort of Josh’s arms helped bring me down to Earth.
“I’m so sorry. Is there anything you need? Anything I’ll go get anything you want, I swear.”
“I just… I want him back… and I know I can’t it’s stupid… but….Just hold me, please. Don’t go any where, please just hold me.”
“Forever.” He whispered into my hair.
His chin came to rest on my head and he rocked my back and forth. His lips kissed my hair.
I wrapped my arms around him and buried myself in his chest as much as I could. Josh wrapped a blanket around us.
As strange as it seems, I felt like if I went to his hospital room, he’d still be there. He would smile up and me and say “Missed you baby girl!”
I tried to burrow into Josh’s chest to weaken the pain.
He held me for hours until I fell asleep. The last thing I heard before the darkness and peace of sleep was Josh’s deep soothing voice, it echoed it my dreams and brought a small comfort to me.
“Forever.”
Birthday Wishes Do Come True

“Happy Birthday, dear Hannah! Happy Birthday to you!” Your friends and family were crowed around in your backyard around a pick nick table. Your big birthday cake was in the middle of the table. Looked around, grinning at your friends and family. Your dork of friends were singing the song out of pitch trying to make you laugh and succeeded.
You laugh and make a wish. You only want your two best friends to be here for you, but they were off in LA and called earlier saying the couldn’t make it. You were kind of sad, but you understood.
But you still wished for them. That was the only thing you wanted.
I wish Josh and Alex were here, you thought as you blew out the candles.
Everyone clapped and cheered and your parents started cutting the cake.
You were still happy everyone was there to see you smile and be there for you so you were grateful.
You all sat around the table while one sat and began eating cake and laughing when it was present time.
There were quite a few gifts wrapped in colorful paper, the light from the lanterns hanging around you danced off of them and only made them that more tempting.
Your mom handed you the first gift, you quickly unwrapped it ripping the paper aside it was a new phone. You squealed and hugged your mom. Your last phone you’d had for three years and was horrible. You’ve been asking for a new phone for a year and a half.
“Thank you! Oh my gosh thank you so much!” Your mom laughed.
“Don’t worry, sweetie. There’s more.”
You unwrapped all the gifts, getting and Itunes card, some things to go with your phone, a new movie and the Adele album. You leaned back in your chair and sighed, completely content.
The guests started to leave you walked everyone to the front door thanking them for the gifts and you stood in the open door way waving to your friends. Your mom and dad were waiting behind you and had grins on their faces. You looked suspiciously at them.
“We have one more present for you!” Your mom says. You laugh, excitedly.
“What is it?”
“Turn around.” The voice that spoke wasn’t your mom’s. It was a deep voice, one that you haven’t hear in a while. It was Alexander’s. You whip around and there is Josh and Alexander standing on the porch with big grins on thier faces.
You scream and jump, practically throwing yourself at Alexander first. He laughed and pulled you into a big bear hug.
“You didn’t think we’d miss your birthday did you?”
“But you… you guys were in LA! You said you couldn’t make it!”
You turned and hugged Josh next.
“Yeah, well we lied!” He said laughing. “We figured it’d be a nice surprise!”
“It is! Oh my gosh, guys! Thank you so much! You guys are the best!”
“Yeah, well your mom helped keep it a secret!” You ran over and hugged her too.
“Soo… does this mean we still get cake?” Alexander asked. You rolled you eyes.
“Yeah, sure. You guys deserve it.” You took them into the kitchen and you lounged around.
“So birthday girl? Did you get everything you wanted?” You laugh.
“Yep. You guys were it. I just wanted you to be here and… you are.”
“Well,” Josh said looking at Alex. “We feel honored that you asked for us.” Slowly and evil grin appeared on his face. He gave you a wink.
You pretended you didn’t see anything.
“You enjoying your cake, Alex?” Josh asked. Alex was already on his second piece.
“Damn this is good. Who made it?” Ales asked you. Josh got up and went to retrieve another piece. He slowly walked behind Alex and smirked. He quickly smashed the cake in Alex’s face. You gasped and burst out laughing.
Alex looked like someone had kicked a puppy. The cake plopped from his face down onto the table. He wiped a huge chunk from his face the icing smearing across his nose and mouth. He turned to Josh and glared.
“Oh, you asked for it Oompa Loompa.” He takes the cake from his plate and Josh and Alex wrestle around the kitchen. Alex smashes the cake into Josh’s hair and rubs it over his face.
You fell off your chair laughing so much.
“What are you laughing at?” Alex says, laughing as well. Josh and Alex stand up.
“Should we unite, Gigantor?” Josh asks, holding out his hand. Alex smirks and takes it. You back away warily from the two.
“Guuuys… What are you thinking?”
They quickly reach for the extra cake on the table you squeal and run to the other side but they catch you and you all fall to the floor as they swear cake all over.
You squeal more and you the boy’s laughter fill your ears.
“Best birthday ever!” You yell out.

Late Night Goodbyes

My neighbors could probably hear the giggling, screaming and laughter that was erupting from my house. I was having a girls night with my best friends Ashley, Maggie, Lauren and Bethany.
And our neighbors were about a half a mile away. Ahhh, Kentucky farms. It was about 2 in the morning.
“Girls stop!” I yelled. They all paused. It was eerily silent in the large house. I clicked a button on my remote. “HAMMER TIME!”
MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This erupted through the surround sound of my living room. I was lucky my parents had gone to visit some family in Missouri and I was left here alone. So, instead of throwing a party… because I’m such a good kid, I had just a few friends over.
We all were jumping crazily around the living in an attempt to dance. After we got I tired I fell on the floor and just laid on the soft carpet.
The music died down and we were all just laying over all the furniture.
Lights flashed through the windows, living in the country my family didn’t have curtains. We all turned towards the front of the house, the lights were from a car that just turned onto my driveway.
First thing that popped into my head was my parents got back. The girls squealed and I was about to start cleaning up, considering my driveway was very long, I had a little time.
I looked out the window. And saw a red, fancy sports car.
“Okay, guys. False alarm. It’s just Josh.” Lauren smirked to Ashley.
“You mean your lover.”
“Guys, you know that’s not how it is.”
“Yeah okay. ‘Just friends.’” Maggie said with sarcasm.
“With benefits.” Bethany added.
“Shut up.” I muttered, blushing.
That’s not how it was. Josh and I have always been really good friends. We were in preschool together. When he left for LA we still kept in touch and anytime he visited we’d always hang out. It was nice knowing he always made time for his small town best friend. Sometimes he would wake up early just to be able to call me before school and considering the three hour time difference that was an amazing feat.
I mean hell yeah, I had a crush on him. But he never would ever feel that way towards me. Not while he had hot costars like Jennifer Lawrence and Leven Rambin. He wasn’t necessarily interested in them, but really how could I ever compare?
“Then , Louise, what’s he doing here at two in the morning… while your parents are away?”
“Well, I don’t know! I don’t read minds.” I thought for a second as the car pulled closer. He could definitely see all the girls crowed around the windows, now. I couldn’t see him through the tinted windows, but I could tell he’d be laughing. I started pushing them from the windows.
I realized why he was here. He was leaving for a new movie shoot. Literally his flight was in an hour. He had to be on his way to the airport. He’d be gone for six months. But I was still confused, we’d already said goodbye earlier.
I looked down at my attire. I was wearing Eeyore fuzzy short-shorts that barely covered anything and a blue tank top. I pulled on my blue fuzzy slippers. I silently cursed myself.
“Stay inside, don’t crowd around the windows. You know you freak him out when you say you want to lick his face and stuff like that.” Ashley laughed.
“Which is exactly why we say those things.”
“Anyways, just don’t be… you.” I said, winking at them. Josh was now making his way up the to the porch and was just about to knock.
I pulled the door open.
“Really? Josh. You know we saw you. Why would you knock?” He grinned.
“Well, I was just being thoughtful.”
“Awwwwwwwwwww!” Behind me Maggie yelled. I flushed.
“Sorry the girls are over,” I quickly slipped through the door and out into the chilly Kentucky night.
“That’s fine.”
“So, Hollywood. What are you doing here?”
“I’m leaving for New Zealand in a hour.” I nodded, rubbing my arms. Josh took off his black zip-up hoodie he got from Italy and wrapped it around my shoulders. I slipped my arms in the big hoodie gratefully. It was about two times too big for me but it was soft and warm.
I could hear the small pond that was in our front yard and the frogs croaked around it. The wrap around porch was only half-illuminated by the light hanging by the door. The moon peaked through the clouds and the trees.
Josh was in a black band t-shirt and jeans. He looked good.
“Well, yeah,” I laughed. “But we already said goodbye earlier today.”
“I just… um… I wanted to see you again before I left. I…” He looked a little sick or worried…. or both. He took a deep breath.
“Josh you okay?” I leaned forward and checked him temperature. He busted out laughing and I swear I could hear giggles from the other side of the door.
“Yeah, I’m fine, I’m just a nervous.”
“About what? New Zealand? The movie? Josh you’ll be great!” He raised his eye brows chuckling slightly.
“No, no . Louise can you just umm… It’s not the movie. It’s…” I leaned against the white wooden railing on my porch and Josh stood in front of me.
“Well? Then what is it?” It was silent for a few seconds.
Josh leaned in closer and a second before his lips touched mine was when I finally realized what he was going to do. His hand came up and cupped my cheek softly. I closed my eyes when our lips met. His lips were so soft and gentle against mine, but he quickly kissed me deeper and heat flashed through my body.
Without a thought, my arms wrapped themselves around his neck pulling him closer. He took this a sign because his tongue came out and gently caressed my lip, begging for entrance, which I granted easily. One of his hands found my waist, pulling me flush up against him. He leaned me against one of the pillars of my porch.
The butterflies in my stomach erupted into a freaking dragon and I swear I saw fireworks. One of my hands wrapped around his bicep and the other wound its way into his hair.
He gently pulled away and rested his forehead against mine.
“Louise you’re perfect.”

I sat between my older brother and his girlfriend. They were “fighting.” Which means whenever they were starting to get angry with one another, instead of being normal and just raising their voices, voice their own opinions, debating logically and then coming to a conclusion like adults… they began talking in baby talk to each other.
“No, you unplugged the cord.”
“No, you unplugged it.”
“No, you unplugged it”
“No, you unplugged it.“
Oh, yes. There’s nothing like a 21 year old man and his girlfriend arguing in baby talk whilst I, the eighteen year old sat across from them.
We were in the middle of McDonalds for a little lunch. Annie, my brother’s girlfriend had her laptop out and the cord got unplugged… they have been doing this for a good five minutes. I was going insane.
I was at this point praying to God asking him to send a fireball crashing into the McDonalds but I knew I couldn’t be that lucky.
My mom had made me tag along to the store with Dumb and Dumber to make sure they go the right things and they wanted to stop for lunch.
“I need to go to the bathroom.” Annie announced suddenly. She looked at me. Oh, crap the girl code. The girl code in this situation was she wants to go to the bathroom and talk about how much of an ass my brother is. But at this point she wasn’t exactly my favorite person… well, she never really was anyway. But I’ve had enough of her for a whole afternoon I sure as Hell didn’t want to be alone with her. “Do you need to go too Caity?”
“You know… I’m just not feeling it.”
She huffed and stalked to the bathroom. My brother, Stephen shook his head.
“I’m gonna go outside and smoke.” He went outside whilst pouting.
I drummed my fingers against the table. I bit my lip and looked around the McDonalds. I blew my lips together.
“All by myself,” I sang quietly to myself at an attempt to keep myself entertained. I loved making these kind of jokes… to myself. Ii’s sad, I know. “Don’t want to be-”
“Hi!” I screamed and nearly fell out of the plastic chair. I placed a hand over my racing heart. “Oh, sorry did I scare you?”
I looked up and saw a guy with long dark hair. At first I thought it was Aladdin. He had dark eyes and caramel skin. His head was popped over the tall, wooden separation wall and that’s all I could see of him.
“Uh… yeah. Just a bit.” He laughed.
“Sorry, we heard you singing and we thought you were really good. Just wanted to let you know.”
I paused seeing only him.
“And is the other person your imaginary friend?” I asked jokingly. He laughed and this time I heard more laughter from behind the wall.
“No, sorry this is my best friend, Josh.” A boy around Aladdin’s age popped up next to him. He smiled shyly. He had short cropped dark hair, gorgeous dark, hazel eyes and a smile to die for. His skin was flawless and his jaw seemed to be carved from the heavens.
“Hey…” I said lamely. “I’m… uh,” Oh shit… think, think. “Caity! My name is Caity.”
“Hey, oh and this guy is Avan.”
“Oh, cool. I was thinking Aladdin, but… Avan works too.” Both boys laughed. “But you’ve never heard that before…”
“So, I heard your friends’… argument.” Josh said.
“If you can call it that. But that was my brother and his girlfriend.” As if on cue Annie came out of the bathroom, she payed no attention to Avan and Josh.
“Caitlyn where is your brother?”
“Stephen went outside for a smoke.” She nodded.
“Fine, I’ll go too. Stay here and wait for the food.”
“Yep, because I’m a slave and that’s what we do.” She turned on her heel and stalked outside. “Wow. Love you too.” I added, letting the sarcasm drip from my voice.
“Not too close with her, I see?” Josh asked, raising an eyebrow.
“No, not really.”
“Number 8!” The boy behind the cashier called my number.
“That’s me.” I said. I stood up and started to walk towards the counter. I turned around and saw Josh and Avan having a small quiet fight. “Bye guys, thanks for scaring me and then talking to me.” I waved and walked up to grab Stephen, Annie and I’s food. I reached into my purse.
Just then an hand reached out with money and gave it to the cashier who had an excessive amount of pimples.
“I’ve got this one.” I looked up and saw Josh, handing over the money. My jaw dropped.
“What the hell, Josh?” He smiled.
“I’ve got it.”
“Dude that’s like, thirty bucks!” He shook his head.
“Trust me I can afford it.”
“I don’t care if you can buy the Empire State Building. That’s too much. I can’t let you do that.” He gave me a look saying he wasn’t going to give in and I sighed.
“Fine… but that doesn’t mean I like it.But thank you.” I paused and Pimply the cashier handed over the bags of food. I looked outside and saw Stephen and Annie making out on the side walk. A little old couple stared in horror as they shoved their tongues down each other’s throat. “Oh my God.”
“Think about it as a gift for having to put up with them.” I turned back to Josh.
“Let me go out on a limb here and guess. You’re not going to let me pay you back are you?”
He smirked.
“Nope.” He said, popping the ‘p.’
“Can I at least make it up to you?”
He glance back at Avan who was watching us intently like this was an episode of CSI and he was about to miss something good. I stuck my tongue out at him, because I felt like being an adult. He laughed.
I looked back at Josh and he had this weird look on his face. He was staring at me questioningly.
“Do you have any idea who I am?”
I just kind of looked at him.
“You… you’re Josh.” He nodded.
“That’s it?”
“Why is there more?” He laughed.
“I’m Josh Hutcherson.” Wait. that rings a few bells… I paused and cocked my head to the side. My eyes went wide.
“Oh my God.” I nodded encouragingly. “You played Gabe in Little Manhattan, didn’t you?”
He laughed.
“Yeah, I… wasn’t expecting that to be your answer, but yes.”
“Wow. Dude, you grew up!”
“Yeah, that tends to happen. Look, Caity, I was wondering if you’d want to…” He gulped. He seemed… Holy mother of Jesus he seemed nervous. “Would you like to go out with me sometime?”
“You know what. I think that would be amazing.”
We exchanged numbers and then I left. I waved at Avan and Josh through the window and then smacked my brother on the back of the head to get him to stop groping his girlfriend in public.
Not even an hour later I sat at home on the couch with my fries in hand and an ad came on screen.
The Hunger Games.
Oh, yeah I read that book. It was great.
Jennifer Lawrence.
Josh HUtcherson
Liam Hemsworth.
I stopped. I had Dish so I could rewind. I quickly rewound the ad.
Josh Hutcherson.
I flipped out and rewound the ad again searching for him and sure enough there he was… well as a blonde, but there he was…
Oh my God.
I just got asked out by Josh Hutcherson.

AN:
I know this isn’t exactly accurate, but I don’t care I had a good idea. This is somewhat personal to me and I just thought of this and had to write it down.

“Are you sure you’re still up to this?” I was waiting in line at Westfeild Fox Valley Mall. Today there was a Hunger Games Cast Q&A and afterwards a small signing. Josh Hutcherson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Jacqueline Emerson were there today.
We went through the questions and now it was the signing. I was feeling kind of weak already but I was not going to give up and once in a life time opportunity to say hi to Josh Hutcherson because of this.
We were some of the last in line I could tell the three actors just wanted to sign the posters and go. They had about two hundred young screaming and crying girls. They were tired. Hell, I was tired. These girls were embarrassing me and I was being calm.
I was with my best friend, Haley. She and I have been best friends for eight years. She could tell I wasn’t feeling too well and considering where we just came from…
Well, she was concerned.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine Hales.”
“Alright,” she said warily.
We were almost at the table and I took a deep breathe. One of the mall attendants with fake, acrylic nails and too much perfume handed me a Hunger Games poster.
We walked up to the table, Haley was first. She talked to Isabelle and she seemed so nice. She signed the poster and then passed it to Josh. It was my turn.
“I know you probably get this a lot but I absolutely loved your performance in The Orphan. You were so demonically cute I loved it!” She laughed and signed the poster. I could smell the sharpie’s black tip.
“Actually everyone says I scared them and they’re glad I died.” I laugh.
“To me you were just too cute to die… even after the plot twist.”
“Well, thank you sweetie.” She passed the poster to Josh and my heart started racing. I swear I could feel it hit my rib cage. I started shaking a little and my palms were sweaty. I tried to give the best smile I could as I looked at him.
He glanced up at me and smiled. It was an award winning smile, let me tell you.
“Hey, beautiful.”
“H-Hi.” My voice shook. He chuckled to himself. “Can I shake your hand? I really admire you not only for your acting abilities, but for your work in the LGBT community as well and it’s be great, just to, shake your hand, you know?” Gosh I sounded like a creepy stalker, didn’t I?
He looked at me with a small smile and look of … respect maybe?
“You know what? I would be my honor.” He stuck out his hand and I took it with mine. His hand was big and practically encased mine. He looked down at our hands and stopped. He leaned in closer and this time my heart started racing for a different reason.
Oh, no. I forgot to take it off, I thought to myself.
On my wrist was a plastic hospital band. He looked curiously at it.
“Tania?” he asked, looking at my name. I bit my lip. I sputtered trying to think of something to say.
At this point the line behind me was being held up. A security guard came up and told Josh to keep the line moving.
“Hang on a minute.” He told the guard. “Tania? Were you in the hospital today?”
I nodded, slightly.
“Can I ask why? I mean… I don’t want to impose… But are you okay?” I was shaking but he didn’t let go of my hand. He stood up. He looked concerned.
“Um…. I… I was diagnosed with cancer this morning.” I said. It seemed like time had stopped. Both Isabelle and Jacqueline dropped their felt Sharpies and looked at me. But I didn’t look at them. I looked at Josh.
His face fell slightly. His eyes grew sad. He leaned across the table.
“Wait by the back exit of the mall after the signing I want to talk to you, is that okay?” He whispered in my ear. I nodded. He sat back down and signed my poster. He gave me a reassuring smile and passed the poster onto Jacqueline.
“Hey, sweetie. I’m sorry to hear about that.” She signed my poster and I numbly walked over to Haley.
“What? What happened?”
“I just told them I have cancer. Josh saw my bracelet and asked and …. I didn’t know what else to say other than the truth.” She quickly wrapped her arms around my shoulders and began to lead me to the food court. I turned around to look at the signing table and saw Josh looking after me. I gave a small smile, embarrassed that he saw me looking at him.
I told Hales about what Josh had said and asked if I should go.
“Oh my God! Of course you’re going! Don’t be stupid!”
We walked back to the area where the signing was held and the workers were cleaning up. They were taking down signs and putting up the tables and chairs.
“Alright, let’s get you to Josh.” Haley said. We walked outside and around the back. She stopped half way there.
“Go, I’ll wait for you here.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, this is your moment.” I took a deep breath and walked around the building. A million thoughts popped into my head.
What if I’m too late and he already left?
What if he forgot about me?
What if he was joking?
What if he doesn’t want to see me?
What if he just pities me?
But as I turned the corner and Josh was sitting on a concrete slab, one that had plants and flowers in the middle of them. There was a big bus and about seven different cars, including cop cars all around back. He was playing with the little bits of nature, seemed to be lost in thought.
I walked up cautiously to Josh.
“Um… Josh?” He jumped slightly.
“Oh, Tania. I’m really glad you came.”
“I’m glad you remembered.” I said only slightly joking.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I?” He smiled. “Come here” He patted the concrete next to him. I took a seat. He took a deep breath. “Tania. You are a very beautiful girl. I’m so sorry to hear that this has happened to you. But I want you to fight this. Please, if you fight you can win this. Be strong. Will you promise me this? Promise me you’ll fight.”
He took my hand in his again. I nodded, dumbly.
“Yes, I- I promise.” He smiles wider.
“Good. Now, here is my number. I want you to call me and keep me updated on how you’re doing. If your condition gets any worse let me know. If you’re feeling sad or sick just txt me and I can talk you through it, okay?” He handed me a slip of paper.
“Oh, wow.” I looked up into his eyes. His eyes were just beautiful and I could tell he was sincere. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Now give me your number so I know you’re actually going to call and not flake out on me.” He said with a wink. He plucked a small pink flowers from the bush while I wrote down my number. He had to twist and turn the flower to get it to pop off.
I gave him my number.
“Tania. I have to go. We’re headed to Dallas next, but promise me you’ll call and txt.”
I tried to comprehend what was going on. I was still in shock.
“I promise.” He smiled.
“Good.” He placed the flower in my hair and smiled approvingly. He kissed my cheek and then walked over to the bus. He waved before he got on and the doors closed behind him.
About a minute later the bus pulled away. I shook my head and stared at the piece of paper in my hands.
I got up and started walking to where Haley would be waiting for me.
My phone buzzed in my pocket.
It was a simple txt from the number I held in my hands.
Stay strong.

Just a Song

A Josh Hutcherson One-Shot

It was a rainy day in La. Pretty abnormal. Most people were either inside or in cars and cabs escaping the falling water. I laughed as I walked to the park near my apartment. In my hand I had my guitar case.
I kicked the puddles as I found the gazebo in the center of the park. It had a roof over it and a few benches on the inside. The white gazebo was my favorite place to go to just lay back and relax for the day. I saw on the other side of the park were about a handful of guys playing soccer in the rain. I was glad to see others taking advantage of this day other than ignoring it.
I could hear their playful calls to each other form here, but I just took my acoustic from it’s case.
I settled on the bench.
I slowly began to pick the opening of Yesterday by The Beatles. I was lost in my own world as my fingers gently caressed the metal strings. I rocked gently to the beat of the song, hearing Paul McCartney’s voice in my head as I played.
I was lost in the music. The clear acoustic rang out in the small gazebo and echoed slightly. It was beautiful. I focused on my finger placements making sure that the jumps between chords wouldn’t catch me and mess me up.
When I got to the last chorus I noticed out of the corner of my eye that I had an audience. I kept playing, ignoring the boy in my peripheral vision focusing solely on the song.
As I played the last notes I hummed the end. The boy clapped.
“That was great. Yesterday, right?” I looked up and nearly fell off the bench. I gasped. Josh Hutcherson from all those movies was standing in front of me. His smile faltered slightly. “Oh, I’m sorry. Did I scare you?”
I recovered trying to play off my shock as being frighted. I cleared my throat.
“Oh.. yeah, it’s okay.” I just sat there. He clapped his hands together, still standing in the rain. “You don’t have to stand in the rain you know? I don’t own the gazebo.”
He chuckled slightly, nodded and step in out of the rain. He ran a hand through his hair shaking the drops out of it.
“Sorry, I’m Josh.”
“Marie-Joelle.” I said, he offered his hand and I took it. “But you can either go with Marie or Joelle.”
“Wow. That’s a beautiful name.” I smiled at him. “I think I’ll go Joelle. It’s different from everyone else’s.” I raised an eye brow, jokingly.
“Trying to say something?”
“What? No, no I meant-” I laughed.
“I was joking. It’s okay.” He laughed at himself.
“So… Joelle, would like some company?”
“Yeah, sure.” We sat down on the bench and I place my guitar back in the case.
“So, tell me about yourself.”
“Well… I don’t know, I really love music. As you could probably guess. But it means everything to me. Like my friends and family. Umm… I can speak French.”
“No way.”
“Yep,” I said, popping the ‘p.’
“Wow, you play guitar and speak French. That’s a lot more interesting than what I’d have to say.” I stopped and just looked at him.
“You’re in movies, I guarantee your life is more interesting than mine.” He laughed.
“You’d think… I mean, I get to meet a lot of amazing people and get to some amazing place, but other than that it’s really just work and sleep.”
“Okay, Mr. Celebrity. You have such a hard life,” I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. He laughed.
“I’m not saying that. I’m just more interested in you.” He quickly looked away, back to his friends and I could see a small blush on his cheeks. “I… I mean-“
“JHutch!” One of the guys he was playing with yelled. “Come on man! Stop chatting up the chick and play!”
Both he and I blushed at the comment.
“I’m sorry about him-“
“No, it’s fine. Really. Go play, you said it yourself that for you it’s mostly work and sleep. I take it you don’t spend that much time with your friends. Go. I was about to head out anyway.” I said, honestly, with a reassuring smile. He nodded.
He and I both got up and I grabbed my guitar case we walked out of the gazebo and he turned to me.
“Joelle, can I have your number? Maybe we could go to lunch sometime?”
“Yeah, that would be amazing.” We switch numbers and, with a small skip in my step, I made my way back to my apartment whistling to myself.

I was just trailing along the beach. Watching my foot making dents in the sand and quickly disappear at the tide came and washed it away. I stared out at the ocean. I pulled my blonde waves back and ran my hands through them. The sun was setting. The sky was thousands of different colors. Rays of light peaked in through the clouds and I couldn’t help but feel peaceful. I hear the waves wash up the shore and then pull back. The seagulls would cry every once and a while.
I smiled. Perfect.
Two strong arms wrapped around me and I turned in fight. “Josh!” I yelled scolding him. He just laughed. His smile was contagious and I couldn’t help but smile too.
“What? I thought it was romantic?” He reached for me again and I melted into his arms. I rested my head in the crook of his neck. His soft skin against mine. My lips brushed the skin and he held me closer.
I looked up into his hazel eyes and smiled brightly. I giggled, planting a small kiss on his nose.
“Well you did ask me to come down here. What is it for?” Earlier today I saw a note on the side of my bed.
Meet me at the ocean, at our favorite dock at sunset. I have a surprise. Love, Josh.
He kissed my cheek. “You’ll see.” He took my hand and led me underneath our favorite dock. It’s where we’d met. There was a blanket and a small little picnic of…
“Coke and Potato Chips?” I questioned turning around to face him. He chuckled nervously and blushed slightly.
“Yeah, I went to the store and stood around for about an hour. I didn’t know what to get so… I just grabbed and left. I’m pretty sure I scared a stock-boy too. He kept giving me weird looks because I kept talking to myself.” I laughed out loud.
“You were talking to yourself?”
“Well, I was trying to talk out what to get…” He scratched the back of his neck. “Is this okay? I mean, I can go back and get something else..”
“No, no… Josh. Coke and potato chips are fine.” He laid down on the blanket and smiled up at me, reaching his hand out. I took it and sat down next to him cuddling to his side. He felt so warm and I fit perfectly next to him. He grabbed a can of Coke and opened it, giving it to me. I took a sip and the cold carbonated drink cooled my throat. It was great.
We sat like that. Just laying on the beach eating chips and talking about everything. We even got into a potato chip fight before we calmed down. He laid down and pulled me next to him. I rested my head on his chest and played with his white t-shirt as he played with my hair.
We both watched the sun set across the ocean.
“Happy anniversary, Sarah.”
I turned and smile up at him, kissing his lips softly.
“Happy anniversary.”

“Why?” You asked, no one in particular. You were sick. Really sick, but too stubborn to go to the hospital. It was near pitch black in your bedroom, although it was almost mid-day because you pulled the curtains together. The light affected your headache.
You tweeted:
I feel sooooooo sick. :( Meh.
You had gained a lot of followers once you started dating Josh Hutcherson last year.
You turned on the TV and saw an annoying show and gave up, clicking it off.
Maybe I’ll just take a nap, You thought. As your eyes started to close.
A little while later you awoke and your throat was completely dry. You tried to cough and rolled over to your night stand. You completely downed the bottle of water and cursed yourself because now you had to get up and get some more.
“Noooo.” You moaned into your pillow.
You heard you bedroom door open and you attempted to throw your pillow at the attacker.
But it only landed two feet away, considering you had no strength in your arms.
Then you saw that, oh so familiar face peek through the door.
“Hey, babe.” Josh said with a smile. You shoved your head into the pillow again.
“Go away.” You mumbled. Josh laughed.
“What?”
“Go away. I look like a night-troll.” You could metaphorically hear him roll his eyes.
“You don’t look like a night-troll, I can guarantee that.” His voice was now right next to your bed.
“Well, I feel like a night-troll.” You complained. You looked up and Josh pecked you on the forehead.
“Damn, you’re burning up.”
Instead of making a Madonna reference you said:
“Yeah, that generally happens when you’re sick.”
“Glad to know you can still be sarcastic.” Josh said, chuckling to himself and he made his way into your bathroom. You heard water running and him rummaging through the cupboard.
“Glad to know you’re still…” You brain went black from it’s normal smart-alec way. “Damn attractive… You know it’s too difficult to insult you. You’re perfect.” Josh came back into the room.
“I’m not perfect.” He said as he laid a warm washcloth on your forehead.
“Oh, yeah. You’re right. It’s just that all your flaws, I find extreamly attractive.” You paused for a minute admiring him. He shouldn’t be here. He’s filming a new movie and can’t get sick. You repeated the last phrase in your head. “Joshua! You shouldn’t be here! Step away from the sickling!”
“What?”
“You’re filming! You can’t get sick.”
“I don’t care.”
“Yeah, but I do.”
“I’m your boyfriend, this is my job.”
“Your job is to make movies and not get sick and-“
“To take care of you when you need it. No arguments.” He flashed you a smile and you couldn’t help but smile back.
“Jerk.” He laughed.
“Now do you want to see your presents or not?” Your eyes widened at ‘presents.’ “There’s my girl.” He grabbed a plastic bag from the floor, which you hadn’t seen previously. He sat next to you on the bed. “Now, I brought Sprite, chicken noodle soup,” he placed both objects on the bedside table. You began to smile more. “I also have cough drops, acetaminophen, tissues and… drum roll please?”
You did a pathetic attempt at a drum roll.
“Da-da-da DA! Disney movies!” He grabbed another bag from by his foot, which was holding the dvds.
“You’re amazing.”
“Yeah, I know.” He said. You wanted to kiss him more than anything for being so thoughtful, but under the circumstances you knew you couldn’t.
He made you take the acetaminophen to bring down your fever, set you up and then left to go make the soup.
You tweeted again:
Told @jhutch1992 that I was sick and he brought by soup and Disney movies. Best boyfriend ever.
After you sent the tweet you realized that his fans might freak out, but you pushed it from your mind as Josh came in with the soup.
He put in Tangled and crawled into bed with you wrapping an arm around you while you ate as you quoted the movie, mouthing the songs that you’d normally be singing along.
Once you finished the soup you set it aside and look at Josh.
“I love you.” He smiled.
“I love you too.” He kissed your forehead. “Looks like the fever’s going down.”

“Babe, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” You replied. Your voice was flat and emotionless. A tell-tale sign that something was wrong.
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul and that was true. On the outside your strong wall built a tough exterior, hiding the pain away the pain away from anyone. Normally you could get by with a small smile and an “I’m fine.” But that’s because no one payed attention to your soft eyes. They eyes were screaming for help. Pleading for someone to listen. Just looking in your eyes and anyone could see what you were thinking.
Maybe I do need to loose wight. I do have some pudge. I’m not pretty enough to be with Josh, just look at my nose! Why is with me? He’ll find someone prettier and better, someone who deserves him. I’m just not good enough. I’m a nobody.
You walked past Josh and walked calmly into the bathroom. The bathroom in the hotel room was so small and cramped you felt as if you were locked in. You loved being on tour with the Josh, going to all The Hunger Games movie premiers around the world, but you had absolutely no privacy. Going from airplanes to hotel rooms everyday you had no where you could just sit and think. At this point in time, you didn’t want to think. You wanted to be held. You wanted to cuddle into Josh’s chest and fall asleep and forget about the comments you just read.
But you couldn’t. If you did Josh would find out what was wrong and he’d be angry at the people who did wrote those horrid things.
You could feel her walls breaking down as you pictured your twitter page.
“You ugly bitch!
You’re just another slut!
UGLY DISGUSTING WHORE!”
You took a deep breath as a tear fell down your face. The ache in your chest just began to grow. Your throat tightened and you bit your bottom lip and blinked your eyes to try to stop the tears. You slid down the wall resting your feet against the bathtub, bringing your knees up to your chest. In your right hand was your phone, you clutched it tight, you would have preferred a teddy bear or Josh’s hand but you couldn’t.
A slight knock on the door told her that you wasn’t going to escape this and there was no room for privacy in a small hotel room with practically the whole cast sitting right outside.
“Babe?” Josh’s deep voice called in. He sounded worried.
You cleared the throat.
“Yeah?”
“It’s me. Please, can you let me in?”
“No, I’m fine. I’ll be out in a minute.” Your voice was once again just flat and emotionless and no one would be able to tell that silent tears were trickling softly down your cheeks.
“Please let me in?” The way he spoke felt like sending and arrow straight at your heart. He was so concerned.
You didn’t get up, but just reached up and pushed the door open. Josh bit his lip, seeing you crying was killing him.
He quickly slid inside the already cramped bathroom, shut the door and took you in his arms.
He brushed your hair gently out of your face and cupped your cheek. Your nose and ears were red and eyes were ringed with tears that slid silently down your face leaving paths in their wake. He caressed your cheek taking away your tears as he pulled you onto his lap. Your small frame nestled perfectly into his. He wrapped an arm around you, protectively while his other hand softly smoothed your hair out of her face.
“You are beautiful.” You closed her eyes, a small sigh of protest escaping your mouth as you turned your head, ashamed, away from him.
”Look at me.” He hooked a finger under your chin and brought your gaze to his. “Never, never listen to what those girls say. They aren’t insulting you. They’re insulting ‘Josh Hutcherson’s girlfriend’ because they want to feel better about themselves. Please, I know it hurts, trust me. I know. I’ve been in this position before and it’s not fun.”
You cuddled your way closer to him. You nuzzled your nose into the crook of his neck, his musky cologne was soothing. Your tears dropped onto his skin and fell down into his shirt. He pulled you closer wrapping both arms around you, cradling you to him.
“I know.” Your voice cracked. He rubbed soothing circled on your back through your tank top. “I know that they’re just jealous and so they want to be as rude as possible. I know all of that. But… but it doesn’t mean it hurts any less. I mean, it should. I should be smart enough to just put my emotions aside or… I don’t know.” Your voice was strained and weak.
He kissed your hair.
“What those girls were saying would effect anyone. But the comments weren’t true. You are a beautiful girl. Inside and out. You are kind and compassionate and the sweetest person I have ever met. You would give anything just to know that others are happy. You’re funny and talented and yes, you are beautiful. Absolutely stunning.”
There was a moment of silence.
You smiled Josh’s neck. All signs of tears, of sadness were fading away. You loved Josh more than you could ever possibly say. It was even hard for you to comprehend, having never felt this way before. But things like this. These small little moments made everything okay. Made everything else seem unimportant.
You laughed slightly.
“You are just so… perfect.” You sat up in his lap, looking into his deep hazel eyes. You started to giggle. One of your hands covered your mouth, in an attempt to possibly hide your laughter. Josh giggled with your, not exactly knowing why but your laughter was infectious.
“If would have told me, last year that I was going to be in a three foot bathroom cuddling up to Josh Hutcherson an-“
“JOSH! HEEEEELP!!!” Jennifer’s screaming broke through the little romantic bubble, you had both created. Both you and Josh jumped up and tore out of the bathroom only to find Jennifer on the couch being attacked but, of all people, Amanda Stenberg. Everyone: Liam, Alexander and Isabelle were laughing their heads off.
”What’s going on here?” Josh said, laughing.
“Jennifer stole Amanda’s last Hershey’s bar.” Liam explained through his laughter.
“Jen! You never touch someone else’s chocolate!” You reprimand. It didn’t work because you too was laughing.
“My tummy wanted the chocolate!” Jennifer complained. Laughing as Amanda climbed on her back reaching out for the candy. Jen held the candy just out of reach of the young girl.
Amanda looked to Josh. “Please, bright knight save me from the evil dragon and help me get my chocolate back!” Josh looked to you, and you nodded towards the fighting pair on the floor.
“Go save your Princess, Sir Hutcherson.” With a grin Josh launched himself in the fight.
“Have at thee, coward!”
